Ho Chi Minh

My grandmother played
co-ed volleyball on a team
with Ho Chi Minh at a Y
in lower Manhattan way back
before the first world war.

He used to have everybody over
after matches to his tiny apartment,
in Hell’s Kitchen, she said, for bowls
of steaming pho tai, but only if they won.
He was weird that way.
