It has become quiet
thinking up a line of soul,

there is a sparrow
outside circling the tree
at this hour of night

unusually, its feet can
barely grip the thin,

woodless twigs it has been
teetering on

much like the veins
in my body right now
running course

like a lump of entwined
noodles in a cup of plastic

soaking up water as they swell
over each other

cooking over a slow heat;

the sparrow is soundless
behind its beak

while my veins clamp in
their muddled nest.
