Vain

Janet Kuypers
5/29/19

We wanted to be close to you, you were family.
But you changed you behavior; you pushed us away
until we were so far away it was like we didn’t exist.
But the thing is, it was like you were so far gone
that it breaks our hearts now that we had to find out,
from strangers, a month after you passed away.
None of us are perfect. If only we could have worked
together, in a vain effort to truly make a difference.
