dimensional shift

Janet Kuypers
11/29/20

when we were little
we learned in geometry
the three dimensions:
height, width, depth

and sure, we learned
the concept of time
but as we got older
they explained to us
that beyond those
three dimensions,
there’s a fourth,
and that

is

time

hmm

we had to learn
height, width and depth
in science books,
in math books
and what you call
that fourth one
is the alarm
that wakes us up
for school
and how we know
when dinner is

and now
you’re trying
to tell me
they’re parts
of the same?

okay,
eventually
we get older
claim to understand
this science stuff

but do we really

and then we hear
that some scientists
say there may be
more dimensions:
five, six, seven, eight

ten

upwards of twenty

maybe even
twenty-eight

and i think

wait a minute
i’m always running late
to begin with

i’m having a
hard enough time
with these four
dimensions
to begin with

these four
elusive
dimensions

what are you
trying to do to me
