On May 9th 2009, Janet Kuypers (of Scars Publications) journeyed Nashville Tennessee to visit C Ra McGuirt (of Penny Dreadful Press), where not only did Janet Kuypers read some of her own poetry, but C Ra McGuirt also read a number of Kuypers’ poems.
A large number of poems in this collection of readings have not been read for video before, and a large number of these poems are collected from the 2009 release of Janet Kuypers’ poetry book of her writings immediately after she almost died, when a car struck her while she was stopped at an intersecction. The book is titled (recovery), and contains all of her poetry from the months she was both in the hospital and recouperating in her parent’s home (after losing her home the same time of the car crash). Following her collection of poems in this book, there are also notes on her accident from the performance art showDeath Comes in Threes (which was later released as a perfect-bound book), as well as a section called “Getting It All Out,” where she talks about additional problems this life-threatening crash has caused.
Although Kuypers always enjoys spending with with C Ra McGuirt, Kuypers wanted to visit McGuirt because of the Scars 2009 book release of the first collection book of poetry from C Ra McGuirt. This perfect-bound 6"x9" book is titled nopoem, and is a poetry collection book of all of the writings from C Ra McGuirt that was previously accepted for publication in cc&d magazine. Because C Ra McGuirt had so much writing in the issues of cc&d magazine (even from the magazine’s early days in 1993 and 1994), the poem collection book nopoem will contain not only a large number of C Ra McGuirt poems (and even a few of his essays and editorial comments and letters), but also small images of the cc&d covers that housed his accepted writing.
There is a video recording of each of the Janet Kuypers poems read in Nashville 05/09/09 — by both Janet Kuypers and C Ra McGuirt. There are even two poem recordings by John Yotko in this evening of poetry, and as an added bonus, background guitar was performed with some of the poem readings by not only John Yotko, but also Ryan Holder (and we also even have a cut-off original song being performed by Ryan from this evening).
