a Saturday on St. Patrick’s Day)
Janet Kuypers was scheduled for a feature at Café Mestizo in Pilsen IL, hosted by Vittorio (Vito) Carli, on Saturday, March 17th 2013, (the Saturday afternoon of St. Patrick’s Day, along with other poets for an afternoon-long festival). Other than her only poem mentioning St. Patrick’s Day, Flooded War Memories) all never-before-read poems (including some from her this is a poem about series), plus her poem from the show “hmmm”, titled Beauty in the Eyes of Einstein.
This show is called “Games We Play” because of her final poem she is reading (of the same title). Although she has read the poem “Games We Play” once before at the Café Gallery on January 18th 2012, with the flow of oems in this set, she though Games We Play would be a good finalé to her show.
Kuypers read new poems, including poems from her chapbook this poem is about, as well as poetry mentioning everything from science and astronomy to St. Patrick’s Day to relationships. This feature also had music throughout from Francois Le Roux (the HA!man of South Africa), mostly from his last live show in Chicago 10/16/11, but also from hs CD “Beauty” Kuypers also had video on a laptop screen from their live performance together October 16th 2011 playing during her readings.
This feature was also released as a Scars Publications chapbook through cc&d magazine also titled “Games we Play”, andyou can now watch video from the entire show. (The wntireshow shows explanations between all of the poem readings with music, but the individual poem videos only show the poem and music performance.)
