Quintessential SymbolJanet Kuypers4/6/19
They first sculpted me from marble
and after their empire lay in ruin,
until some fool found me, found
I was only partially dressed,
left my arms shattered, they
You all adore me now, call me Venus
They all think I am all about love
become the quintessential symbol
they never gave me my arms back,
I am now displayed topless, and I
from your lurid eyes. You like me
me and decide to call my nudity “art”.
you took my arms, but... what
to write with such force? Well,
keeps the doctor away, but
from the tree of knowledge. And,
that you left shattered, know that
Go ahead. Get religious. Because
unearthed me and left me
me like this is wrong,
that you may never comprehend
that even though I’m incomplete,
of any power to fight back, but
So try to put the pieces back
comprehend what you have done,
