hard of hearing
After Barbara finished the joke, everyone laughed
even her brothers Dave and Brian, who never seemed
to give her credit for anything she said
But then she turned to her father, who sat there
cold and motionless
His arms were crossed; his head was pushed down
into his shoulders
His furrowed brow framed his eyes,
which seemed to stare at her in contempt
Maybe he didnt hear you, Barb,
Dave finally mumbled
You know hes hard of hearing.
