Enshrined

Janet Kuypers
7/17/19, via facebook, twitter,
Instagram, and Tumblr

Just past dusk
my bare foot
stepped straight
through sawdust

I saw the ridges
shadows, contours
of my foot

I thought about
the boot print
now enshrined
on the lunar surface

those ridges,
shadows, contours

on a night like this,
I’ll bask in the moonlight
and then I’ll dream
