Who I Was Supposed to Be
(dreams 10/31/19)

Janet Kuypers
10/31/19

not knowing where I was,
I looked down, saw I was
dressed in black again

but it didn’t even feel
like I was in my own clothes

without many people
around, another woman
dressed in black appeared

I had no idea who she was,
but she approached me

said something to me
knowingly, like she was
glad that I made it here

since I knew no one else
I agreed, and followed her

we turned a corner in this
place I knew nothing of,
us both dressed in black

and two other people
approached, also in black

but they weren’t with us
and she was glad that I
wouldn’t blow our cover

and all this time,
I didn’t even know

who I was supposed to be
