living in a big world
a Janet Kuypers 07/17/07 performance art show
On July 17, 2007 (07/17/07), Janet Kuypers performed the show “Living in a Big World” at The Cafe (5115 North Lincoln Avenue - just south of Foster - in Chicago). Unlike past shows, this show contained not only poetry, conversational stories and continuously running artwork from around the globe, but also music from a wide variety of musicians.
Charlie Newman, host of a weekly open mic at the Cafe, and a monthly 4-poet feature at DvA art Gallery, even commented on this show: “poet show-stopper par excellence...JANET KUYPERS, with a special set to go along with her special poetry!”... Well, that “special set” is a 60" wide “drawing” of a large chair she actually sits in, along with a projected “drawing” of a large TV showing artwork from around the world.

Musicians and music with work from past CDs and projects will be included in this show, including The Bastard Trio (with music from their CD Survival of the Fist), material from the CD Seeing Things Differently, Pointless Orchestra, with music from Janet Kuypers’ Rough Mixes CD (with Mike Hovancsek playing the modified piano), music and altered effects from Order From Chaos’ CD The Entropy Project, music from 5D/5D’s CD Tick Tock, music from The DMJ Art Connection, music with the guitarist from the Second Axing (playing an original song from Mom’s Favorite Vase), and music from Rose E. Grier’s son Ben Grier. Music by elektroNarkoz (from Taking Out The Brain), music from Lem Roby (from the Cafe 04/26/05 during The Writing of my Life), music by Mark Clayton Graham (from Tribal Scream), and music from Square Waves will also be used during narratives in this show, as well as original background music from the 02/03/04 performance art show Dreams in the end of the live show.
Below you will find video displays as well as web pages of the projected art from this show, and even two different video camera views of each individual piece in this show.
