Einsteinium from
flying through
mushroom clouds

Janet Kuypers
11/29/21 Twitter-length Periodic Table poem

From 1952 U.S. H-bomb tests at the Marshall Islands,
fighter pilots flew F-84 Thunderjets into
mushroom clouds to get atoms from nuclear explosions.

Glenn Seaborg, at Berkeley labs, found 200 atoms
of what would be element 99 —
once declassified, they later named it Einsteinium.
