On June 18th 2014 (6/18/14, or 20140618) Janet Kuypers released her poetry book set release for “Partial Nudity” (originally given that title because the background image on the front cover is a collage rom an x-ray of her mammogram).     Because she has not released a book of new poetry since 1997 (17 years), there was a lot of material in this collection, so she divided it between two major volumes, “Partial Nudity” and “Revealed”. But as time wore on, Kuypers wondered if people were interested in purchasing such huge volumes of work, so she decided to divide the themes of the writings into many small book releases... So, while still deciding to release these two volumes, June 18th also marked the release of 8 mini poetry books of different themes: “100 Haikus”, “Give me the News” (of new poetry and newsworthy poetry), “Let me See you Stripped”, “Part of my Pain”, “Rape, Sexism, Life & Death” (of classic and new poetry about those topics, plus select poems on both topics also released with Slovak translations), “Say Nothing”, “Twitterati” (“the tweet elite,”of twitter-length poems), and “when you Dream tonight” (of dreams poetry, including 2003 show poetry and classic dreams poetry). If you would like to know additional details about any of these books, click on book covers to find full contents listings for each of these books.     Because this book release was held as a feature at the Café Gallery poetry open mic (which she hosts), she had the opportunity to ask people to join her for the middle section of her show. The show (all set with both live and recorded music) had a short poem and a long poem at the beginning of the show (and a long poem and then a short one at the end of the show), but in the middle (because she also released many haiku poems in “Partial Nudity”, most of which are also in the book “100 Haikus”), there was the “Guerrilla Haiku Readings” section of the show, where people randomly came up ton stage to take the microphone and read a haiku (then handing Janet Kuypers a paper with her next haiku to read). In addition to all of the people who came on stage to take part in this live reading, there were also videos from 7 poets who could not make it to the show (including someone from Leeds, so he recorded a poem in Chicago this spring before returning to the U.K.).
