Just made a set of print copies of the print ISSN edition of the cc&d bonus release chapbook of “Crazy”, and the cover is altered for print, and it looks kind of cool. The chapbook has the base story I am performing tonight at Kick Butt’s Spoken and Heard, but the live show tonight will also have improv and ad lib talking to enhance the show — I just thought that some people might like to have a hard copy of the original story too. So it looks like I might be coming with John to Chicago in 2017 for the week starting Monday, August 21st (because we are first seeing the peak of the solar eclipse in Carbondale Illinois at noon). I am stoked to potentially be guest hosting and featuring at the open mic I handed over to Dave Gecic at Gallery Cabaret on Tuesday 8/22, and I am thrilled I will have a feature at In One Ear (thanks, Billy Tuggle!) on Wednesday 8/23 - and Cathleen, I am double-plus honored for an impromptu off-schedule beach poets Saturday afternoon 8/26 before I am on WZRD Radio - Everyone is so awesome for this and, and thank you!
But today I saw a video of my friendship with G.P.A./James Gordon, and it reminded me that he was checking with Let Them Eat Chocolate to reschedule “Poetry’s ‘Love Letter’” so that (if I am so lucky) I could feature there too. Just created a Facebook event listing for my next feature, which is at Kick Butt Poetry: Spoken and Heard on Sunday night, April 23rd (4/23/17), where I am honored to perform my short story “Crazy”. Brian Lamont will read the intro for my monologue feature, I’ve got my costume and props for this show, and we are even designing a mock bed for the stage. All I need are tons of monitors watching over me (since for this feature I am a crazy person in confinement)... I am totally stoked to perform this in my first feature performance at an open mic in Austin Texas, and I REALLY hope EVERYONE can make it to the open mic and show!

What a perfect way to start National Poetry Month - thanks to Thom for setting up a feature space for Expressions APRIL One, 2017 after 6 PM! It is cool that this 4/1/17 feature space may include poets from across the pond, because in honor of National Poetry Month I decided to write erasure poems (poems derived by pulling words from other known writings). I’ve also made a point to pick the most bizarre set of writings to pull from as a real literary exercise, and really, I am SO thrilled to share all of these new poems in my April 1st feature at Austin’s Bahá’í Faith Center! This was a true test for me for National Poetry Month, and I hope you ca make it to my show (in a multi-feature event) this Saturday, because I can’t think of a better way to spend April 1st this year!

Three years ago today Victor Phan (which I couldn’t thank him enough for) started getting more of the images together for my first ever cartoon poetry book, but it stopped before drawings were finished and colored still were completed. Victor, I don’t know what your timeline looks like now, but I REALLY HOPE that maybe the last 25% of these drawings could be fini shed - because I think the both of us would like to see this project completed! I imagine you still have all of the materials from this project, and I could get dropbox set up again, so let me know when you might be able to move forward with this (and even though this has been held up for so long, I really thank you again for drawing this).

And Thom, I loved how you called this photo from the show “magic”, because really, when a copper water pipe outside our home leaked from the cold (what, Austin Texas gets cold? Well, maybe for one day a year...) I saw this valve and spigot as a perfect way to have a poem come out of the pipe on stage, and it worked out perfectly! This Saturday at the Bahá’í Center sounds like a perfect way to start July, and I am thrilled that I am one of the featured poets in a night that Thom hosts on 7/1/17 for “Expressions Supports Cultural Independence!” In my feature “Our Cultural Independence and Achieving Global Freedom”, I will read classic AND new poetry about different forms of independence (freedom from war, freedom from oppression, to freedom from obsessive idolatry, to searching for intellectual freedom and bonding with people globally), all read to “Hotel Music” from the HA!Man of South Africa. Stay tuned for the online chapbook release Saturday for this show, and come to Austin’s the Bahá’í Faith Center for a hard copy of the chapbook too! Come for the multi-feature evening, bring food for the potluck dinner afterward, and stay for the grooviest open mic space too! Now, the evening starts at 6 PM (and we have a prior engagement until 7 PM, so we’ll leave that early and hopefully get there by 6:30 PM), so I hope to see you there!

How double-plus cool to see that Francois Le Roux and I became Facebook friends 6 years ago today (Facebook had to play me a video of us to prove it, that shows a photo of us together in Austin, but no photos of us together in any of our shows in Chicago). It’s also cool to see this because THIS SATURDAY I have a feature that Thom hosts on 7/1/17 at the Bahá’í Faith Center of me reading classic and new poems about Cultural Independence, and in the show I will be playing Hotel Music from Francois Le Roux, which I need to do more because this is the first year Francois will not be touring the U.S. since I met him in 2009...

So, Stan actually broke his racket between sets (though this is something he usually does when aggravated in matches - whether or not he wins of loses). You know, I still think players in Grand Slam tennis match like this show frame their clay-soiled clothes or broken rackets and auction off for donations... But what slaughter-fest finals match today.
I don’t think I can keep track of all of the clones, and I am trying to binge watch the most recent season of Orphan Black before “the Final Trip” starts tonight...

John just said yesterday the he felt bad that he was not making the road trip this year for the Indy 500 (it’s a little farther to drive from Austin Texas than from Chicago). And all I could think was that my going with him and Frank in 2010 with record heat (which was extra excruciating when our seats were right out on the track) was enough for me. But in 2010 it was cool was that Jack Nicholson was there waving the flag for the event, and high-fived me in his golf cart after the race. That, and I said my song ”What we Need in Life” while walking on the racetrack like I was talking, since the first lines of the song are “I don’t know where this road is taking me anymore”, and the the last verse lines are “I’ll take this road alone...”

When John saw this photo, he thought it was a picture of Janet and her beer, and John happened to be there. (He bought a Barks for Beers glass for free beers in May, then decided to stop drinking beer, so I get to visit different breweries for “free” beer.) Besides, I have to get back by 5pm to see the Twin Peaks marathon ‘til season 3 tomorrow night.

Hey wait a minute, I just saw that seven years ago today C Ra McGuirt and I became Facebook friends, because FB made this dorky video (though we were friends pretty much since my cc&d magazine started in 1993, when he thanked me so much for publishing him in most of the first year issues, and he asked how he could repay me so I told him to start a magazine and publish ME, and then came the Penny Dreadful Review). It is a shame that because of our move to Texas it will probably be too far to visit when he is in Nashville, but it’s cool to think of all the Halloweens we spent together...

OMG I MUST get the free trial of Showtime so I can watch season 3 of Twin Peaks (25 years after Laura Palmer told Agent Cooper in the Black Lodge that “I’ll see you again in 25 years”), because in this “everything you need to know” YouTube clip, it even said David Duchovny will apprise his cross-dressing role in the show... Priceless.
So the new “Twin Peaks (2017)” series starts Sunday, May 21st. Though I wouldn’t pay for Showtime I hear I could get a free trial - so I might see shows after all. In the meantime, at least there’s a YouTube playlist with many teasers for the series.

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT! I know it’s the night before my wedding anniversary (I love you John!) but it’s also my feature performance tonight through Thom’s Expressions “honoring open mic hosts” at the Bahá’í Faith Center in Austin with my feature “Time to Start the Show”! The multi-feature event tonight starts after 6:00 pm to see many great features. Bring food to join us after the featured shows for the potluck dinner, and stay for the open mic later! (You can also bring cans to donate to the Center if you’d like...) I am double-plus thrilled to not only have a feature because I hosted a poetry open mic for so long at “The Café Gallery”, but during the open mic I also plan to read (the way I did to start many Chicago open mic nights) many short poems set to background music I used in Chicago... So I hope everyone can make it TONIGHT to this one-of-a-kind poetry feature event!

Had a great time today reading in two feature readings at Community Poetry today at Half Price Books Thom, thanks for sharing this group photo on “Thom’s Friends! ~ World Poets & Musicians” while I was holding the cover of one of my feature reading books, “the New World”, after I read all but one of my “Ultimate Connectivity” poems...
I am SO looking forward to having a featured reading space for reading from new books for Community Poetry TOMORROW during the 1pm-3pm space at Half Price books (5555 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX, Austin, Texas 78751 - and thanks to Thom for giving me this opportunity).
