Thank you so much to Al Ford for the Christmas card, which now has a place in our tree, and reminds us that we should be getting our Christmas cards out this year too!

I may be the geek who knows that Star Trek: Picard Season 2 had a 2024 manned mission to Europa, but in real life, NASA has an UNmanned 2024 mission to Europa, and I am pleased to have my name stenciled on a microchip that will be attached to the spacecraft as it travels to Europa...

Happy Birthday to David Rubin, the man who started the open mic at Café Aloha, which I was pleased to carry on after Charlie Newman ran it at the Café, where then I moved it to The Gallery Cabaret, before I had to move away from Chicago and pass the baton for the open mic over to Dave Gecic, where after Covid19 Wes Heine kept the poetry going. After I returned to Chicago after traveling the States and after the accident recovery, David Rubin was the man who told me I was “on the scene” and gave me quarterly features, and was able to bloom as a performance artist. Thank you, and happy birthday...

Because Citizen Eatery is not open until when the Illini basketball game starts, we stopped here for a beer. The game for Texas football was going on, so we sat to the side and we discovered a bicycle that was painted in Illini (or is that Dutch) colors.

Facebook wouldn’t allow me to share memories of The Café open mic poetry readings posted on 12/2/16 and 12/2/10 (7 & 13 years ago today), but at least Facebook allows me to share this... Because The Café was shut down, and because I saw when in town in July 2023 that the building was literally torn down, I want to share, like in my 1st year of hosting poetry in Chicago. Enjoy this YouTube video of Janet Kuypers reading her poem “Venture to the Unknown” (from the NASA full-color photo book “Venture to the Unknown”) at The Café live in Chicago on 11/30/10 (on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr). #janetkuypers #janetkuypersbookreading #janetkuyperspoetry #janetkuypersthecafegallery

I have run c c &d and Down in the Dirt magazines since their inceptions... but this post 10 years ago today highlights the last issue of c c &d as a digest-sized American Lulu printer release (which is why for a cover I used a photo of me visible at 36% in North Chicago at Lake Michigan looking out to the water, as this was the last of the ISSN# issues; since 2013 books have been released through Amazon with an ISBN#). This issue is still available for |
